You have to admit, we live in a pretty awesome country. Yesterday I was able to once again feel that awesomeness and love that Canada has to offer. My roommate and I went to go check out the fireworks! We are lucky enough to live within biking distance to the river valley, so that is what we did! It was an absolutely beautiful night, and we enjoyed the fireworks very much. Nicole had never seen the Edmonton fireworks before, so this was a treat for her. We sat amongst many people, and everyone was cheerful and happy. We didn't dress up (I'm sad to say), but many people did. One guy took the liberty upon himself to wear a flag as a cape, and hold a flag on a stick and run back and forth cheering at the top of his lungs, getting the crowd to cheer with him. We couldn't help but be happy in that moment.

As the glow of the fireworks danced on our face, I realized just how fortunate we really are in this beautiful country we call home. To be able to sit amongst throngs of people and enjoy each other's company without feeling the threat of our own safety is a great thing. Cops drove past, handing out candy to kids, and our faith in humanity was restored in that brief moment.
